The Difference

I have people ask me all the time, “Can you really feel a difference in how you felt before, and how you feel now?” My answer is always a resounding, “Yes!” 12 years ago my college roommate introduced me to organic peanut butter. I laughed at her and told her I couldn’t believe people would pay so much money for something that didn’t taste good. Oh gosh! I wish I still had her phone number so I could apologize for that comment.

My Journey

Ironically, one year later, my health journey started. I began milling my own grain and making my own bread. Small but life changing. My skin looked much healthier, and I simply felt better. That’s when I got curious about how food affected my body.

From making bread, I progressed to eating a 100% organic diet. I stopped looking at calories and looked at ingredients instead. My health journey has been just that, a journey. It started with making bread and a curiosity about food but then it took me places I never imagined.

I started wondering about the products I used to clean my house, my personal beauty products, and then on to how chemicals and toxins were sneaking into my home in ways I might not expect.

A Life of Freedom

What amazes me the most is how everything ties together. You might have organic food in your fridge, but if you are smearing your body in chemical heavy personal beauty products each day, your body will never be at it’s best. I’m fascinated with simple, clean, and life changing ways we can rid ourselves, our families, and our homes of chemicals and toxins. It will mean looking different than mainstream. It will mean not having a shower full of the latest and greatest hair products. But a toxic-free life is worth it.

There are so many illnesses that can be healed or avoided all together when a clean life is our normal life. I want to live in a world where sickness is rare instead of normal. I want to live in a world where people feel their best, because they are at their best. A life that is free from chemicals and full of health.

So my answer is, “Yes!” The work to change a life from unhealthy to healthy is 100% worth it. It’s a step-by-step journey that takes time and effort, but when you begin to feel the changes in your body, you won’t want to go back. I would never go back to how I felt in college when I counted calories but didn’t pay attention to ingredients, and when my daily life was saturated in chemicals and toxins. I’ve still got many changes I would love to see in my home, but I’m moving forward towards a healthier and cleaner life, because I know I will feel better the more forward steps I take.
